The Great is more than just a cruise it is a luxurious Yacht that
is both elegant and sophisticated offering the ultimate in comfort
and service on the Nile.
Each of the 30 suites are individually designed to provide an ideal
environment in which to relax and enjoy the splendours of the Nile.
All of the cabins are air-conditioned with an in-room safe, mini-bar,
Satellite TV and DVD player and an en-suite bathroom with bath tub,
hairdryer and vanity mirror.
During your stay on the Alexander The Great breakfast, lunch and
dinner is included. The 'Red Fiesta' restaurant situated on the
third deck has large panoramic windows overlooking the Nile and
offers a variety of international cuisine with buffet breakfasts
and lunches and a la carte dinners, whilst the barbeque on the pool
deck is a great place to enjoy traditional oriental food and music
under the stars. There is a bar and lounge located on the fourth
deck which provides the ideal meeting place.
The sun deck is provided with a shaded area and loungers to relax
and enjoy the views of the Nile. There is a swimming pool and Jacuzzi
plus a bar offering drinks and light snacks.
A tempting selection of international and Egyptian cuisine is
served in the on board restaurant. Breakfast is buffet style, with
a choice of fruit juices, tea and coffee, cereal, rolls and breads,
cheese and cold meats, pastries, boiled eggs or omelette. Lunch
and dinner are taken in one sitting often buffet style with a wide
selection of starters including salads and delicious soups with
fresh rolls and breads. A number of main course choices are available
- chicken, beef and fish dishes, fresh vegetables, pasta and rice.
For dessert take your pick from superb pastries and creamy puddings
whilst a healthy option of fresh fruit is usually available if you
prefer. To accompany your meal, choose from a range of soft drinks,
beer, wine or bottled water. Remember, you just sign for them as
you go along and pay at the end of your cruise. Afternoon tea and
cake is usually served on the sundeck when the boat is sailing.
Alexander the Great Nile Cruise Itinerary
1 night Luxor & 6 nights Cruise
The Alexander the Great operates from a Tuesday to Monday which
means your first night upon arrival will be spent at the Old Winter
Palace in Luxor
Departures every Monday except for the period 29 May - 08 Jul 2007.
Day 1: Depart from either London Gatwick or Manchester, fly direct
to Luxor. On arrival transfer to the 5 star Old Winter Palace in
Luxor for a stay of 1 night.
Day 2: Morning at leisure before transferring to the Alexander
The Great. After lunch you will take your first excursion to visit
the temples of Luxor and Karnak. Dinner and overnight on board in
Luxor
Day 3: An early morning visit to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's
Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. On arrival back at the boat, a
buffet lunch will be served and the boat will set sail for Esna.
Afternoon tea will be served on The Club sun deck. In the evening
enjoy a welcome cocktail and presentation of the yacht's crew in
the lounge bar (smart dress). After an a la carte dinner in the
restaurant, watch a Nubian dance show in the comfort of the lounge
bar. At some stage during the evening the boat will pass through
the lock at Esna then docks overnight.
Day 4: Early morning sail to Edfu. Wake up at leisure and after
breakfast, visit the Temple of Edfu. Afterwards, the boat will sail
to Kom Ombo while you enjoy lunch in the Red Fiesta restaurant.
In the evening there will be an Egyptian BBQ dinner on the sun deck
with the opportunity for guests to dress up in traditional Egyptian
costumes. Overnight Kom Ombo.
Day 5: Early morning sail to Aswan. Morning tour by felucca (sail
boat) around the islands. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, visit
the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and the Temple of Philae. Overnight
on board in Aswan.
Day 6: The day can be spent at leisure on board the boat or you
may wish to take an optional excursion to Abu Simbel either by coach
(approx £60) or by air (£100).
Day 7: Today the boat will sail to Kom Ombo in the early morning.
After breakfast the day will begin with a morning visit on foot
to the Temple of Kom Ombo. Afterwards the boat sails to Esna while
lunch is served on board. Afternoon tea is served on The Club sun
deck. Dinner, evening entertainment and overnight in Esna.
Day 8: Morning at leisure as the boat heads to Luxor. On arrival
in Luxor, disembark and transfer to the airport for your return
flight or transfer to your next resort
