Lying at the southern tip of the Sinai peninsula, Sharm El Sheikh has become one of Egypt’s most famous and popular resorts. In the early 1980’s it was no more than a fishing village before it sprung to attention as an excellent diving resort. As a result, Sharm is now one of the most popular resorts along the Red Sea Riviera and with many hotels stretched along its shoreline it has a very cosmopolitan feel to it. The resort offers many shps, cafes, bars and restaurants including the Hard Rock Café and Pasha nightclub. Nightlife in Sharm is excellent and without the problems found in some Mediterranean resorts. It is also very clean and safe for families. The resort is split by a small dual carriageway with hotels on either side enjoying either beach or mountain views. Namma Bay is the centre of the resort, with Ras Nasrani, Nabq Bay, Ras Um Sid and Sharm old town offering nearby, quieter alternatives. Beaches in Sharm lend themselves to some great diving and snorkelling with many dive sites from the Straights of Tiran in the north to Ras Mohammed in the south. The range of sites is perfect for divers of all levels with the majority of diving from boats. Naama Bay has direct access to the sea from the beach and is an excellent area to learn to snorkel. Most hotels have house reefs or access to snorkelling sites nearby. Excursions available in Sharm include: Snorkel Boat trip
